We were staying at the Hyatt for the weekend with his family. We had all decided we were going to go to dinner on the Saturday night and were trying to decide where. His mum asked him what time his booking was "for that thing". When I asked what thing he said he’d booked for us to go on the Ferris Wheel. I thought it was strange that the others knew about it and he hadn’t told me, but then I thought nothing more of it. Saturday night came around and everyone decided they didn’t want to go. It went from 6 people, down to just us 2. I asked him how much it cost and he vaguely answered "oh $15 per person I think…" When we got to the Ferris Wheel he said he had the booking and the girl said "oh yes, the VIP cabin" I looked at the pricing chart and instead of the $15 per person,he had booked the $119 VIP cabin. I asked him what made him book the VIP cabin and he said "Oh it’s brand new and it’s our first time on here, I thought we’d do it right!" So again I thought nothing more of it. When we were up at the top I told him to turn around and look at the Bell Tower and he told me to turn around and look at the river because it looked so beautiful. I insisted he look at the Bell Tower, but he insisted I look at the river, so I reluctantly agreed and turned around. I was sitting there looking out at the river thinking "it’s pitch black…what can he see that I can’t?" and then I heard him say my name. I turned around and he was down on one knee with this gorgeous wooden ring box in his hand. He said "I’m asking for your hand in marriage." then he opened the box to show this stunning triple diamond engagement ring, and he asked "will you marry me?" I of course said yes and then asked him if I had to put the ring on myself, he laughed and took it out of the box and put it on my finger. He kept asking me if I liked it, and I insisted I love it. The next morning he asked me again if I liked it and I again told him I love it, and he said "good, because it’s even more special, it was nanna’s ring." I teared up then. His nanna had told his mum over 12 months ago that she wanted him to give me her ring. His mum didn’t tell him. His nanna passed away 6 months ago. When Scott told his mum he was thinking of proposing to me, she told him about Nanna’s ring. Even though his nanna can’t be here to give her blessing, she gave it long ago, which means so much to me. I love that I have her ring.
