Stephanie Schembri & Iain McConnell
NSW, Baulkham Hills
Iain had advised me a week before hand that we were going to go for a picnic, on the Friday afternoon to Watch our friend sail his boat in the city harbour. On the Friday Iain had picked me and our daughter Annabelle up from home after going to the local fish shop to get fresh prawns and Oysters. On driving to the location I kept asking Iain if he was up to something, he kind of giggled but said no…. I knew Iain was going out in two weeks to the Snoop Concert and thought that he was buttering me up to tell me he would spend the whole night out, or come home very drunk. When we got to the place at Valclaus I followed Iain down a path, I kept asking him if he wanted a hand to carry anything as we had our 10 week old Daughter with us, he said no. The view was amazing of the Harbour Bridge and of the water at Sunset with Sail boats. We were eating the seafood when Iain said he had bread rolls to and if I wanted butter for my roll (my first thought was fresh raw seafood with bread rolls, that is weird what am I to do put a raw oyster on the roll ) I said yes, so when Iain passed me the butter and I opened the lid, I didn’t find butter at all but a box, Iain proposed to me and I couldn’t answer him straight away cause I was crying…..Obviously I said yes. The Funny thing about the spot where Iain proposed to me was, he had told me about 6 months into our relationship that he would take me to his most special place in the whole world to ask me to marry him, I hadn’t even put two and two together when he proposed.

I have been with my fiance for over 7 and a half years and for the last 4 years we have been living in London. Majority of our friends and family were constantly asking when we would be getting married and Brad was getting harassed by his family constantly asking him when he would propose to me. So we decided to finally head back to Perth after nearly 4 years of living in London and we booked a holiday on the way home to go through America. First stop was New York. Little did I know that Brad had a ring. We went to the top of the Empire State Building (he went up with the ring in his pocket( but when we got to the top it was pouring with rain so he decided, I wont propose here. Next stop after New York was Miami which was great seeing Miami Dolphins play and going to the Everglades. Then we went to Vegas where we had organized a tour to take us to the Grand Canyon. The tour involved getting a little cesna 10 seater plane to fly to the grand canyon. I was hung over after going clubbing the night before with a friend. The plane ride was nerve racking as there was cross winds and lots of turbulence and I thought I would be sick. We arrived at the canyon and it was beautiful up there. We did a tour around the south rim and had lunch at a reservation there. We then went for a walk around the area and he insisted we walk up to the top of a small rocky outcrop. I was tired by now and slightly cold as the wind was quite high here. But he insisted and we went to the top and sat down and enjoyed the tranquility of looking over the vastness of the canyon and seeing eagles flying around. When there was no one around, Brad asked me to sit at a different area of the rocks saying that there was no wind there. Which I did and he pointed at something on the horizon and told me to look. Which I did. He then got down on 1 knee and asked me to be his wife. I just about cried. I was so surprised and excited. And the ring was beautiful. He had chosen the diamond and had the ring created. He slipped it on my finger and it fit just perfectly (he had figured out my ring size one day when we were trying each others rings on). It was such a high to my day that I didn’t care about how rough the plane ride back would be. I was on a high. Plus I would never call him unromantic again and he put so much thought into it and surprised me. Now we are planning the wedding!!

Jordana & Rob
ACT, Canberra
Rob and I have both been married previously and have 2 children each. We get to go out alone every second weekend if we have the money which is not all that often. Rob and I had talked about marriage a bit and I knew he planned on asking me but he kept telling me he wanted to do it properly (my last proposal was "there’s a sale on. Want to get a ring?"). My 30th birthday was coming up and I knew Rob planned to take me out to dinner. We’d been looking at rings for both Rob and myself so I secretly went back to the shop and bought the ring that Rob liked. We went to dinner to celebrate my birthday at a really nice restaurant with wonderful food, wine and service (First Floor in Canberra is fantastic!) I can’t remember exactly when but during a wait in the courses Rob asked me to be his wife and produced the ring that I loved. Of course I said yes! I then surprised him and gave him his ring. Now we have 2 years to save the money so we can have the wedding of our dreams (which is surprisingly similar).

It was our 5 year anniversary coming up and I thought we were going away to Glenelg for the night. Ash said he organized it all so i didn’t have to worry about it. Little did I know he was actually planning something much bigger then just a night away. He woke me up the morning before we were set to go away on told me that we weren’t going to Glenelg but instead a trip interstate. He wouldn’t tell me where, just told me to pack a suit case for 4 nights! He didn’t tell me where we were going until we got to the airport that day. We were going to Hamilton Island! We went to a nice seafood restaurant on the night of our anniversary and had a beautiful dinner. When we were finished he suggested a walk along the beach and I agreed. while we were walking he stopped and asked me for a hug and of course i gave him one! He then asked me "Am I having a good night?". I replied with a "yes" and then he said "well I think its about to get even better". He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I immediately said "YES!" It was so romantic, on a beautiful beach under the moonlight!

Nicole & Joel
Victoria, Port Melbourne
Joel was invited to a Sales conference in Fiji, so we decided that we’d go to Fiji for 8 days before the conference started. It was our 1st holiday to Fiji and we were in heaven. We stayed for 5 nights at a 5 star resort and we thought life couldn’t get any better, boy, was I wrong. Joel had surprised me with a 2 night stay on a secluded Island called Tokoriki. This is an adults only island, which holds around 20 guests, yes, that’s right we had the whole island to ourselves, no tv, no radio, 1 phone for the whole island. It was amazing, we had a BURE that was beautiful, we had a beautiful room, a lap pool on our back doorstep, an outside shower, an outside day bed, then 10 steps away was the ocean. I have never experienced anything like this before in my life. We relaxed by the pool, snorkeled in the ocean, got massages, drank cocktails and enjoyed beautiful food. Guests would arrive onto the island via, helicopter, sea plan or catamaran, I didn’t think that life could get much better, until our last night, we were out for dinner at the only restaurant on the island, but we had been given a special table overlooking the beach and the ocean. We had just finished our meal, when Joel and I were talking about how amazing this whole holiday had been, when Joel got down on 1 knee and told me that the only thing that would make this holiday even better, was that if I would become his wife, I burst into tears, he cried along with me and the REST IS HISTORY….

Our engagement story is so romantic but cute. We have a three year old son, so phil organized for him to be babysat so we could go out for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. I found it odd he actually organized something but just went with it because it was a lovely idea. We went out for dinner, then went for a walk along the beach just talking in the dark with the building nearby giving us enough light to see each other. He stopped while we were walking and looked at me. He got down on one knee and smiled and said "bubba, will you marry me?". He was trying not to laugh but he said it so cute. He placed the gorgeous ring on my finger and we kissed as fire works filled the sky. it was beautiful!!!

We had been at stereosonic an outside festival all day. It was about 1am in the morning and we we’re walking back to the car along the Torrens river. The stars were out. It was a warm night and we could hear the river and the animals. We came up to the Weir and it looked like a cave with rocks but you had trees all around and you could just see the stars. It was magical. I looked at scott and smiled and said this is so perfect. and he said yeah. He got down on one knee and told me how in love he was with me and how he couldn’t imagine his life with anyone besides me and he asked if I would marry him. I of course said yes. It was the most perfect moment. Something I will never forget.

Scott is a Theatre Technician and on the 10th of May he was doing an event wrestling. In fact just before the break he walked out from behind the curtains and went into the ring. I always sit near the front of the audience. He got into the ring and called me up there. His words were just before we go on this break. There is something I would like to say. My name is Scott and I am the Tech on tonight and my partner is in the audience tonight and there is something I would like to say to her. He called me up there so I went into the ring and he said I love you so much and I never want to loose you. Will you marry me. I then started crying and said of coarse I will.

I was at a time that I was stressed from all the studying I was doing so Dom decided that he would take me to a Restaurant for the night. It was the 1st of August, he told me that "tonight there will be no talk of stress and school. We will just relax and have fun" in the car on the way to the venue which he had told me I realized we were going the wrong way, he insisted that we were and we had a fight about it. When we parked the car I told him we were to far from the restaurant and Dom just said we will walk till we get there. When I said for the 10th time that we were no where near the restaurant he stopped and asked one of the waiters at another restaurant where it was and I was right. It was down the very other end of the road we would have to drive to get there. This man then told us to come into this restaurant and he would give us free drinks so we did. Little did I know that Dom had actually booked this restaurant from the start. It was a very well to do restaurant and expensive but Dom told me to order anything that I wanted. When we had finished dinner we walked through a park to get back t the car. While in the Park Dom stopped and lent on a chair bench, he told me to sit down if I wanted because he just needed a rest. I remained standing. It was then that Dom got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and said "Amanda I have asked your Dad and he was happy with this. Would you marry me?" and put the ring on my finger. To top the day off it was raining that night so everything was wet including us at that point. Dom told me after that he had planned to bring me to the beach and propose on the pier but it was to cold and rainy and I would have known something was going on.

Taryn and Aaron Marriage Proposal
Western Australia, Kalgoorlie
We went shopping to pick me a ring, and being very pregnant I had to get it up sized and they told us 3 to 4 weeks till we get it back which was very up setting because we had decided to be engaged before we went away. Anyway one night I rang my partner saying that our three year old little girl was going to stay at her Nans for the night would he like to go out for dinner? He said yes and that he would book some where. When he got home he wouldn’t tell me where and was all happy but I just put it down to being home from work. When we left we pulled up to the one place we had never gone out for dinner before which was a nice surprise. The food was great. I asked him if he had heard anything about the ring and he said it would be another 2 weeks. By then I was really down. I wanted my ring,
so while we were waiting for our meals I was looking out the window in my own little world when I felt something hit my hand. I looked down and saw a box just thrown at me. I smiled realizing what it was and opened it. With that he asked me to marry and put the ring on my finger. I held all my tears back and said yes. The people in the place all smiled. It was such a shock. I thought my ring wasn’t even in the same town. So it meant so much more that he had rushed home from work to see the jewelers cause they rang him earlier that day, just so he could ask me that night.
