Victoria, Mill Park

My fiance and I met on the internet. We dated for a few months but there was no chemistry and I didn’t want to be tied down so we broke up. We kept in contact for a few years but one of us was always taken. When we finally realised we were both single we decided to go on a date together. The first few months were amazing. We had both changed and the spark and chemistry was electrifying. We were both massive Elvis Presley fans so on the the 30th anniversary of his death Gold FM where having a tribute night to him on the radio. We went to the airport at night to listen and all of a sudden Shaun told me we had to rush home. So we got home and Shaun ran into our bedroom while I went and took a shower. I had the radio on in the bathroom when I heard Shaun’s voice on the radio. He was asking me to marry him on national radio! I couldn’t believe it and started screaming. You could hear me on the radio. They asked me to call back with my response so I did and of course it was YES.  A month later we had started planning our wedding when we found out we were expecting a surpise in 9 months. Now not only do we get to share our love with all our family and friends but our beautiful baby girl will be there with us. We have gone through many bad times with Shaun battling severe depression and my pregnancy wasn’t the easiest but the saying is true. Love conquers all!.

Queensland, Gold Coast
Campbell was away in Scotland on holiday and missed my 30th birthday so he promised that he would take me somewhere special for the night to mark the occasion.

He took me to Palazzo Versace to a gorgeous room on the 3rd floor that overlooked the lagoon and the man made beach and told me that I had to be ready for tea at 6pm. He walked over to the window at 6pm and told me to come and look out there and he had arranged for the staff at Versace to wirte “Marry Me” in tea lights in the sand then I turned around and he proposed to me with a gorgeous 1 carat diamond solitaire. Only thing was I was so suprised I kept asking him what was wring and what was happening and he had to ask me if all those questions meant my answer was yes. Oh, and another thing, I didn’t actually see the sign in the sand, maybe that was why I was so suprised but I eventually saw it about 10 minutes later so he went to all the effort and I didn’t even see it!! The flames from the tea lights burned all night and you could see it from the reception at Versace, he is the man of my dreams and I can’t wait to be his wife. And yes, I said yes!!

  Leigh & Mel February 14th 2008

We had been dating for almost 6 years – since we where 16 and had been travelling a lot, We caught the travel bug and planned a trip to New York with 2 of our friends for February 2008 which happily coincided with Valentines Day.

The night before Valentines Day we all went out for dinner at this cheap pub needless to say the food was not quality and which the food poising began.

After a chuck up in a cab I went back to the hotel to sleep the rest of the day. I was woken up bright and early February 14th 2008 to a luxury car awaiting Leigh & I down stairs which took us to the oldest Italian restaurant in New York Barbetta. Still feeling a little sick I felt so bad that I was sick and Leigh had put so much effort into Valentines Day as it is normally me organising something and just ordered a soup.

While we where waiting for our food Leigh reached into his pocket and grabbed my Valentines Day card which had all the usual love stuff on it then down the bottom of the card was those words

P.S Will you marry me?

When I took my eyes away from the card to look at him out came my gorgeous Classic Tiffany ring.

Immediately I said yes I did not have to think about it.

After a small lunch we where driven down to central park where we had a horse and carriage ride around the snow filled park.

This was something out of a movie for me; it was a day I could never forget!!

Phil and I were expecting a baby and I had just finished work at more than eight months pregnant. My first day off and phil’s suggested we go to the beach in our 4WD. When we got to the beach I got out my towel and planted myself on the beach with a girlie magazine. Phil wouldn’t come and sit down he was hovering around the car. I thought he was checkng it for damage because we had just hit a kangaroo on the road. He kept saying to me honey can you come and give me a hand, can you come here. I wasn’t getting up for anyone. Than a 4Wd bus load of foreign tourists pulled up close by and he started getting more and more agitated considering there was an entire beach the driver could have chosen anywhere to park. Eventually phil said to me honey, you’ve got to come here and see this, its really gross. So naturally I got up, with difficulty and went around to the back of the car. Phil dropped to one knee and I started screaming. I thought he had been bitten by something he thought was really gross. So being a nurse I was checkng him for puncture wounds and still screaming, totally missing my proposal and then I noticed phil was holding a ringbox with a shiny ring. Being pregnant and not thinking I started saying no and was trying to get him away from the car from the gross thing that had hurt him. Than the penny dropped and I realised I had been duped. Phil had even organised the champagne and nibblies and he had planned the day for a long while. after I gathered myself and of course said yes, we turned around to a busload of tourists who were staring and taking photographs of us. Maybe not the most romantic proposal, but it wasn’t from lack of trying on phil’s behalf. But it does make me smile at how funny the day was and how unique the experience was.
