Queensland, Leichhardt
It was Steve’s Birthday, so I wanted to do something special for him, so I booked a night time Storey Bridge Climb. On the day I blindfolded him and drove him to the location. I knew he suspected what I had planned so I took a few detours and roundabouts and totally lost him. When we got there I took his blind fold off and he took one look at the bridge and he knew exactly what we were doing there.

We enjoyed our Bridge climb, so romantic and I thought to myself how awesome it would be to be proposed to up here. The night light’s from the city made it the perfect setting, but unfortunately we were unable to bring ANYTHING up there.

When we got back to the car we were about to leave and he pulled something out of his pocket. He turned to me and told me how much he loved me and wanted to be with me for the rest of our lives and then he asked me to marry him. I was so happy. He told me how he wanted to ask me while we were up on the bridge, We must have had that thought at the exact same time :) I love him so much. He’s such a kind generous person and I can’t wait until we are named husband and wife. I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone else.

Luke and I had just brought our First house, and it was the day we where going to take it over. We where at his Parents house in MT Beauty and it was 6am, he asked me to turn the alarm off. I rolled over very sleepily to find the ring on me pillow and there he proposed. I said yes and had to go off to placement while he got to play in our new home.

The way my fiancee proposed was very strange. It was about midnight on the 17th of march this year and we had just finished watching a movie and I was about to just get in the shower and he asked me to get him some cotten buds (it was the big johnson and johnson packs) and inside the pack was a ring box. Out of shock I dropped the cotten buds on the floor and the ring went flying across the room. I picked up the ring and couldnt stop laughing then my fiancee came in to the bathroom and asked me “what do u say” and I replied “what do u mean?” he just said “will u?” (meanwhile I continued laughing) I then said “what are you asking me” then he finally asked me if I would marry him. Of course I had to say yes after I got over the shock of it all. I think I laughed for about an hour after wards and all he could say was “you didnt even cry”. and thats my proposal story, pretty strange hey.

We were about 5 months pregnant and we went out to a lovely dinner with Bens brother, girlfriend and Bens sister and her boyfriend. It was a really nice evening. When we got home I was in the bedroom and Ben surprised me. He came up behind me, put one arm on my round belly and his other over my shoulder with a little wooden box in his hand. I opened it and to my surprise there was the ring, the ring I looked at a few months before. Ben said “so what do you think?” I said “about what” all cheeky like. Ben said ” Will you marry me” I turned around and said” Yeah of course I will” We kissed and cuddled. It was beautifully planned out.

My Fiance auditioned for a game show last february. He told the producers at the audition, he wanted to take the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend (me). My finance never told me he had said that. He is an outgoing guy and i assumed he was really up for the challenge of stardom ha ha. We got flights paid for us to Sydney to film the show. It was then that he won and also got down on one knee to propose to me. I cried and it was one of the happiest moments in my life. Apparently everyone in that studio knew about this, everyone apart from me.

I (Melissa), decided to take advantage of the fact it is a leap year this year. I did a little research on it first, needed to establish what the dos & the don’ts were in regard to a woman proposing in a leap year. Once upon a time, it was only done on the 29th of February, but as time & customs have evolved, so has this tradition. Now, a woman can propose any time during the leap year. So I did!!! In front of my 3 very supportive children & written on a cheese cake, made especially for the occassion. Of course, the answer was “yes”! Thankyou Mark, you have made me a very happy woman. I love you! xxx

South Australia, Golden Grove SA 5125
My Partner Alex and I have been together for over 5 years now.

Earlier this year he joined the Australian Army in the hopes to set up our future. In July this year he had his first March out Parade and all of the family flew and drove over from Adelaide to Wagga Wagga in NSW to see and congratulate him on completing his first leg of the Army.

After the march out parade Alex and I went into the local town to spend some time together, it had been over three months since i had seen him and I was a bit nervous. He took me to the local war mamorial in Wagga and thats where he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, Of course after a few tears I said yes.

After that weekend we all flew home and although i speak to him on the phone every day I haven’t seen him in over a month now which is very hard especially now that we are engaged.

I love him very much and this is only the start of our story together….

Xxxxxxxxxxx

Love Tanya

Craig & I met on a singles website on a Tuesday night. We spoke only for a little while, and then he suggested he drive up to Newcastle the next day from Wollongong so we could meet face to face. I agreed, it sounded wonderful.

We met down at Belmont near the lake, and sat and talked for 5 hours. I couldnt believe how time just slipped away from us. Unfortunately, he had to leave as he started work early the next morning, and i had to pick my daughter up from school at 3pm.

That saturday was his 38th birthday, so if i could get a baby sitter, maybe we could spend more time together and get to know each other a bit more. We booked a hotel room to stay at which was nice. We went out later that night for dinner.

I couldnt get enough of him, with all of his stories about his childhood, his interests, his family and friends. He was so interesting. It felt like we’d known each other forever.

The following day after we said goodbye, he text messaged me and was skirting around the question to marry him. It was driving me nuts. So, straight to the point, i asked him what he wanted to say. He said that he couldnt imagine spending his life with anyone else. I was gob-smacked! This is what i wanted, and i wasnt sure how to answer him. So, i said yes.

We’re planning on a very short engagement. Why put off what feels so right. So this november we’re planning on a beachside wedding, with close family and friends. It will be one the best days in both of our lives.

Queensland, Brisbane
On valentines day 2008, my partner Ben proposed, it started out like this…..

I had taken a week off work, the day before we went to wet and wild on the gold coast, then on the day itself, Ben unfortunately had to work.

He sent me an email at about 2.30 telling me he was going over to his best friends house after work for a coffee, upon him telling me this I got quite annoyed, as we had dinner reservations (which I already knew about there were no secrets about that), so we ended up getting into an email war over why he shouldn’t go for coffee.

When he finally got home at 5.30pm, he didn’t have anything in his hands at all, and on special occasions he always buys me at least 1 flower (he isn’t a totaly romantic), so we got ready and then we went to dinner at a place called the pineapple hotel.

Aftwewards, we ended up going to the Kangaroo Point Cliffs here in brisbane (which was a surprise), we stayed there for a while then he told me that we should go home, so I put my camera away and said I suppose tonight isn’t the night that I get my engagement ring then (I am very impatient and when he didn’t have anything in his hands I started to get a little suspicious), when I did that and turned around, my partner was sitting there, almost white as a ghost, saying to me “what this engagement ring”, I started to cry even though I knew something was up,. as we had spoken about it, and the month before he took me to look at rings, and he slipped it onto my finger, as he was doing this, he did say “will you marry me” but he already knew that answer.

Even though it might not sound very romantic, but to me, I couldn’t ask for anything more, I know my partner and he isn’t th type to get down on one knee and say those magic words, but for him what he did was very romantic, and I guess if I wasn’t so impatient then it might have ended up differently, either way, this valentines day was the best day of my life and i wouldn’t want to change a thing.
